About Us
At Saugahatchee Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to providing top-notch veterinary care to the pets of East Central Alabama. Our journey began with Dr. Thad Moore, who grew up in the rural community of Grove Oak, Alabama. His love for animals and the beautiful landscape of the Appalachian foothills near the Tennessee River instilled in him a deep passion for animal care. Dr. Moore attended Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences in 1996. He later pursued his veterinary degree at Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2000. After completing a large animal medicine internship through Tuskegee in 2001, Dr. Moore began his career as an associate veterinarian in North Alabama.
However, it was his return to Auburn in 2010 that marked the beginning of a new chapter for Dr. Moore and his family. He started providing relief veterinarian services to multiple veterinary practices across East Central Alabama and Lee County. This experience laid the foundation for his dream of starting his own mixed animal practice. After much patience and hard work, Saugahatchee Animal Hospital was able to open its doors in January 2016. The historic house, built in 1907, was transformed into a state-of-the-art veterinary facility, offering a wide range of services to the community.
