About Us
At the Warwick Valley Humane Society, we are dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. Founded in 1954, we are the second oldest humane society in Orange County, New York. Our mission is to protect all animals, keep lost and homeless pets safe, and advocate for compassion, respect, and humane treatment for all animals.
We provide a range of essential services, including Animal Control Services via contracts with the Towns of Warwick and Chester. Our team is committed to rescuing any animal in distress and helping the public with referrals, transportation, and medical assistance. We also operate the Warwick Animal Shelter, where we care for and rehome countless animals each year.
One of our core values is C.A.R.E., which stands for Compassion and Kindness, Advocacy and Education, Respect and Protect the Lives of Animals, and Excellence and Innovation. We believe that all animals are deserving of compassion and kindness, and we strive to create a humane world through education and advocacy.
We are particularly proud of our Spay, Neuter, and Return (SNR) program, which offers low-cost spaying and neutering services for cats within the Towns of Warwick and Chester. This program is managed in partnership with the Animal Rights Alliance (T.A.R.A.) and aims to reduce the number of unwanted pets and prevent health issues associated with unspayed or unneutered animals.
