When Lauren was younger, she had to say goodbye to a frail pet. This experience, while sad and emotional, also served as inspiration to pursue a career that would allow her to help others when their pets were sick or injured. Lauren’s journey into the animal care industry began at two different boarding facilities. While there, she witnessed a few medical emergencies, including a dog who suffered from seizures. Helping out with these cases made Lauren realize she wanted to try working in a veterinary clinic. After spending some time at an emergency clinic, Lauren decided to look for something that would feel more like family. She found what she was looking for at 30th Street in November of 2022.
Outside of the clinic, Lauren’s fur family consists of three dogs and two cats. Milo is a goofy pit bull mix who loves to sunbathe. Kane is an easy-going snuggler who is determined to be a lap dog, despite his 50-pound frame. Fae is a German shepherd mix who loves running around and making new friends. Then there’s Athena, who loves to sleep on top of people, and Deku, a sweet boy who has three legs. Aside from animals, Lauren’s other passion is playing the cello, something she’s been doing since the 7th grade. Despite being born in California, she was raised in Indianapolis since she was 4 years old. Even at a young age, she wanted to work with animals, her first job idea being “pet detective.” Her first pet was a rat named Blackberry. She went through the Perry School District, and then went to International Business College’s Vet Tech Institute, graduating in 2015, and becoming licensed in 2016. She worked at a clinic down on the southside after graduation, until 2020, when the doctor shut the practice down, then started working at Indyvet. She missed the connection with clients that she got in GP, so when Dr. Speiser mentioned he had an opening for a technician at 30th street, she jumped at the opportunity. I am very passionate about the lives and well-being of animals. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world not only for people but for the animals. I went to school to become a medical assistant and phlebotomist. While working at a doctor's office, I was volunteering at animal control. I later started working there. I started saving lives of the animals and doing my best to make sure they were placed in a perfect forever home. I have rescued small animals, 2 cats and one dog. I have a total of 4 dogs, 2 cats, 4 budgies, 1 guinea pig, and 2 ferrets. I am a mom of two wonderful toddlers. My goal in life is to improve the lives of all the creatures we share our earth with. We can all make a difference [citation].
