Lee Hernandez. Lee’s passion for the veterinary field stems not only from her love for animals, but her own personal experiences. Coming from a low-income household as a first-generation American and college student, Lee is acutely aware of the struggles that many people face from financial instability and lack of equal opportunities to education. Prior to becoming a part of the 30th Street Animal Hospital, Lee worked at West Michigan Street Veterinary Clinic as a kennel assistant and East Side Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant, all while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology at the University of Indianapolis. In the near future, Lee will be pursuing her DVM degree at Kansas State University with the aspiration of becoming a vet who represents people of all backgrounds and gives back to her community [citation].
