Dr. Mendoza was born in Santiago, Chile, and grew up surrounded by many dogs, cats, and his horse. At a very young age, he knew he wanted to be a veterinarian. He graduated from the University of Chile, School of Veterinary Sciences and Livestock, where he obtained his BS in Veterinary Sciences, and after his research in diagnostic imaging on spinal cord injury in dogs, he obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine.
After working in small animal emergency practices for 2 years, Dr. Mendoza moved to Madison, Wisconsin. He obtained his MSc in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine, where he researched novel therapies for chronic wounds and bacterial antibiotic resistance. He then continued working at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the Small Animal Critical Care Unit. Dr. Mendoza continued his education at the University of Tuskegee, Alabama, completing his internship in Small Animal rotating internship in emergency, critical care, internal medicine, and surgery.
Dr. Mendoza recently moved to Reno and is very excited to join Mountain View Animal Hospital and Holistic Pet Care team. He has a special interest in emergency medicine and critical care, soft tissue surgery, and wound healing.
In his free time, he loves to spend time in the mountains, doing some photography, skiing, trail running, rock climbing, or mountain biking. He also loves music and you might see him playing with his band in local events in the Reno/Tahoe area.
Dr. Mendoza is a Veterinarian (Doctorate) graduate of Chile and is currently completing his final accreditations in the United States. Mountain View Animal Hospital and Holistic Pet Care is proud to include externships and VGAL enrolled doctors (Veterinary Graduate Awaiting Licensure). These highly qualified doctors undergo rigorous and specialized testing that many recognize as being more difficult than US veterinary graduates undergo. Mountain View Animal Hospital and Holistic Pet Care is extremely proud and grateful that we have created a collaborative workplace for these graduate doctors while also helping support the medical demands of our local community.
