Dr. Fortier received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 2016. After graduation, he moved to New York City and has since lived in The Rockaways. A passionate lifelong learner, Dr. Fortier is committed to constantly expanding his knowledge and skill set to provide the highest quality veterinary care for your loved ones. He has the following certifications:
Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist (cVMA) – Dr. Fortier is certified to provide evidence and science-based acupuncture. Instead of following the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) philosophy of modulating qi flow, science-based acupuncture instead focuses on modulating nerve impulses and stimulating the release of pain-killing molecules.
Veterinary Botanical Medicine Consultant (VBMC) – Dr. Fortier has been trained in the evidence and science-based use of herbal supplements. This means that he can help answer questions about the evidence for or against different herbal products, possible herb-drug interactions, and which herbs to avoid in various conditions. While this course provides exposure to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal medications, Dr. Fortier does not prescribe these treatments.
Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV) – This course provides advanced training in end-of-life care. The primary focuses are high quality medical management, supporting pet parents’ emotional health, and euthanasia techniques.
Low Stress Handling® Certified – Silver (LCHC-S), Elite Fear Free Certified (Elite FFCP), & Cat Friendly Veterinarian (CFV) – Dr. Fortier has obtained these three certifications which teach the general philosophy and hand-on techniques needed to provide low stress veterinary care. These advanced skills have helped Dr. Fortier mold All Ears Veterinary into a compassionate clinic that focuses on each patient as a whole being, not just their symptoms. Dr. Fortier is committed to offering all reasonable options for care, ensuring each pet has the least stressful experience possible, and educating pet parents so that they never leave the clinic confused by their loved ones’ diseases or treatment options.
