Dr. Alan Coffman was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a small oil and ranching town north of Tulsa. His passion for animals began early, as he started volunteering and working at Clinkenbeard Veterinary Clinic and Triple C Ranch under Dr. Clinkenbeard when he was just 12 years old. After graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1992, Dr. Coffman left Oklahoma to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Fresno, California area.
Upon returning, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (Pre-Vet Emphasis) with a minor in Zoology from Brigham Young University in 1998. His wife, Amy, also graduated from BYU in Elementary Education, leaving Dr. Coffman with a special appreciation for teachers and educators. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Coffman joined Allen Veterinary Hospital in 2004, after 16 years as a dedicated employee, he proudly took over the practice upon Dr. Overton’s retirement in 2010, ensuring the hospital’s tradition of top-quality care continued. He was recognized by the Texas Animal Control Association with the prestigious W.R. Bilderback, DVM Award for outstanding service to the animal control profession in Texas [citation][2].
