Dr. Swarnjit Singh has been involved in Veterinary medicine since he earned his Bachelor’s in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc&AH), followed by his Masters in Veterinary Science (MVSc) majoring in Immunology with a minor in Biochemistry, from the College of Veterinary Science of Punjab Agricultural University, India.
When he came to the United States in 1994, it was with the intention of getting his PhD in Veterinary and Medical Entomology at Oklahoma State University. He particularly focused on immune mechanisms and the effect of transmission of various diseases by insects and ticks to vertebrate hosts, with a focus on Lyme disease.
Once he finished his doctoral studies, he worked for a few years in academic research before returning to his true passion, which is as a small animal practitioner. He worked in Denver and Santa Rosa before opening his own practice, and American Canyon Veterinary Hospital was born. He recently completed his Fear Free certification, which brings us one step closer to becoming a Fear Free Hospital.
In his spare time, you can find Dr. Singh hanging out with his wife Katya and watching standup comedy specials. His gentle soothing presence can be felt not only with the animals he loves but throughout the practice and every person who works at ACVH feels so lucky to have Dr. Singh as their boss.
