Dr. Johanna Vega was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno where she completed her bachelor's degree in the honors program in 2013. Dr. Vega then attended Colorado State University where she obtained her doctorate in Veterinary medicine in 2018. During vet school, Dr. Vega was involved with research on Northern Fur Seals and Steller Sea Lions, and spent time in both Alaska and California working with marine mammals. Dr. Vega completed an emergency and critical care internship with an extra emphasis on emergency surgery in Fort Collins, CO.
After her internship, she relocated to Salt Lake where she worked as an emergency clinician at a busy emergency and specialty hospital in the city. In 2020, she moved back home and accepted a position at AESC. When she is not working, she enjoys working out and all forms of outdoor adventures. She lives with her husband, golden retriever- Truckee, and Mini Aussie- Rip [citation].
