Dr. Horst graduated from Cedar Crest High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania before continuing his studies at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he became an associate veterinarian at a very busy multi-doctor practice, where he stayed for 4 years, gaining a large amount of practical experience.
In 2006, he designed and built Animal Health Care of Myerstown, a few miles from where he grew up. It was always his goal to build an animal hospital that combines state-of-the-art care, with a practical approach to medicine.
As a member of the Veterinary Information Network, Dr. Horst participates in an online community of veterinarians and board-certified specialists who share cases and information. This allows him to provide your pet with the collective experience of over 42,000 veterinarians who collaborate to provide your pet with the best possible care. His main areas of interest include small animal medicine and surgery, with a focus on endocrine disease.
Dr. Horst has enjoyed watching his practice grow along with his family which boasts 6 children, his beautiful wife, Jodi, and their family dogs, Parker (Cavachon) and Bently (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), Stella the cat, a bearded dragon, and several fish.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, and is a member of the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Lebanon [citation].
