Dr. J. Wesley Chapin grew up on his family’s farm in upstate New York. As a young man, he was very active in 4-H and worked with sheep and various livestock. He also enjoyed working at a local veterinary hospital. Both his upbringing and background in animal care made veterinary medicine a very natural career path for him.
Dr. Chapin received his Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University and later received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University. He first began his veterinary career in a mixed animal practice, but found he wanted to focus more on small animal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Chapin moved to the northeast and joined the Broadview Animal Hospital team in 2005. He then became an owner of the practice in 2008. Dr. Chapin is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Study Groups Organization.
The first pictures of him were all with rabbits and goats in his play pen as a young child. There was never an epiphany about becoming a veterinarian; he was just always meant to be. Given his upbringing on a farm, it was a natural career path for him.
He truly loves seeing his patients heal and get back to being active and happy after an injury. He wants to ensure everything goes smoothly with his patients throughout the recovery process. He feels a duty to help his clients maintain peace of mind through health challenges.
Dr. Chapin is passionate about surgery, primarily orthopedics. He is proud of his family, which brings him joy. One of his goals at Broadview is to build a cohesive veterinary team that is the best in the seacoast. He shares his life with his loving wife Hilary and their son and daughter. He currently has a Black Lab named Rosie and a Corgi named Gabby [citation][5].
