Dr. Lindsay Bess has always been passionate about animals and the natural world Raised in a family of medical professionals, medicine and health care were part of her day to day life. It was accordingly natural for her to want to pursue veterinary medicine She always hoped to acquire the knowledge and obtain a level of expertise that would allow her to help animals, to be in a position to advocate for them because they cannot speak for themselves. In turn, she hoped to be able to pass this on to pet parents to help them better understand their pet’s needs and help as well After her undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, she moved to Germany where she studied veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. She worked in Germany in small animal general practice and emergency care until her return to the United States. While completing the AVMA’s accreditation program, she worked in the role of a technician at a small animal hospital in Oakland, CA and as a voluntary veterinarian with various community and shelter medicine programs. She is particularly interested in preventative medicine, nutrition, feline medicine, and dentistry. She is excited to join the Campus Vet Team, to meet the community, and continue to fulfill her long-held aspirations Outside of work, she spends as much time as possible outdoors and with her family. She loves to garden, hike, bike, swim, and skateboard. She is also passionate about music. She lives in El Cerrito with her wonderful German husband and darling German cat.
