Heather Sandler grew up in Joplin, Mo. She has worked in the veterinary field since she was 15 years old as both a receptionist and veterinary assistant. She got her Bachelor's degree in Science from Missouri Southern State University. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she met her future husband Dr. Evan. The Doctors then did a clinical rotation at the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. Afterward, Dr. Heather and her husband moved to the Mohawk Valley in 2006. She practiced companion animal medicine at Herkimer Veterinary Associates for 6 years before starting Dr. Heather's House Calls then expanding to CNY Veterinary Medical Services with Dr. Evan.
While working at Herkimer, Dr. Heather honed her skills in companion animal medicine. Her areas of special interest include Dermatology, Nutrition, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, and Dentistry. She has maintained her passion for providing personal, one-on-one care. Starting Dr. Heather's House Calls has been a long-time dream come true.
When not caring for animals, Dr. Heather enjoys spending time with her two wonderful children; her husband, Evan; their cat, Shadow; and the rest of their 2 and 4-legged family. She also enjoys music, photography, and Sci-fi books and movies.
