Melissa Havemann grew up in Jarrell, Texas, showing in the English and Western Equine Circuit. She also participated in the local 4H and was president of the Jarrell FFA. She played softball and volleyball for JHS and represented the Cougars in many academic endeavors while growing up as a proud Jarrell Cougar.
She obtained both her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Texas A&M University. During her stay at Texas A&M, she worked as a veterinary technician in a large equine hospital, ran an equine boarding facility, and worked in an Equine Infectious Disease Lab.
After she graduated with her DVM from Texas A&M, she completed an equine internship at a referral hospital servicing over 30 referral veterinarians. It was during her internship that she developed her love of emergency, medical, and lameness cases. She moved back home to Texas upon the completion of her internship and worked at one of the largest mixed animal practices in Texas at Alvarado Veterinary Clinic where she cultivated her passion for mixed animal medicine.
Melissa Havemann has worked in several mixed animal practices over the years and has developed many beloved relationships with her patients and their families. Growing up, she always wanted to become the hometown doc that could help serve her community as part of her extended family.
Melissa Havemann spends her free time outdoors with her two children, Jackson (3) and Haley (1), her husband, Denton, and her two dogs, Cooper and Barkley, and horses, Feather and Kai. Her dream of owning her own hospital has come to life in Compassion Veterinary Hospital, and she looks forward to making new relationships with you and your family members [citation][5].
