Kurt Krusen has been a general small animal practitioner here in Central PA since graduating from Kansas State University in 1985. Originally from Kansas, he finished high school in Pennsylvania. His 30 years of practice are a great mix of valuable experiences. He worked with a solo practitioner for 7 years, started a housecall practice, worked at two emergency clinics, performed surgeries for several area clinics, and provided relief work for over 20 clinics in the area before starting his practice in 1994. He has also served on veterinary missions trips where he lectures, teaches surgery, and performs elective surgeries in Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and the Navajo Nation.
He developed his practice and business style based on several principles: pets are a very important part of families’ and individuals’ lives, veterinarians are an important part of communities and public health, he loves what he does and feels very fortunate and grateful to do so, and he believes in surrounding himself with positive people and activities in his life and career. He often says to clients, “if you were my Dad I would suggest that you...” You can’t get better consideration than what he would want to give his parents. Many vet students and veterinary practices forget that they are in the people business. Working with people and helping to keep their pets happy and healthy is what he loves about veterinary medicine. He has a special interest in surgery, geriatrics, and arthritis, areas where he concentrates much of his continuing education [citation][2].
