Dr. Tara M. Sacramone grew up in Leominster, Massachusetts, and relocated to attend the University of Minnesota to study veterinary medicine. After graduating in 1996, she decided to leave the frigid Midwest and return to Massachusetts. She worked in Athol, MA for three years and Lowell for a year and a half before settling in at the Dunstable Animal Clinic in 2001. Dr. Sacramone currently resides in Fitchburg with her husband, daughter, and dog, Ajax [citation].
She has used Convenia for several patients with great results, most of whom have been cats or small dogs (under 15 pounds). Convenia is a long-acting antibiotic injection that lasts for 2 weeks and is ideal for pets that don’t like taking medicine orally. It has many uses, such as skin infections, abscesses, bladder infections, and bacterial ear infections [citation].
Additionally, Dr. Sacramone has written an article about stomatitis in cats, a common oral cavity disorder. She discusses the various causes and treatment options, including switching to stainless steel bowls, changing to a high protein, low carbohydrate canned food diet, and using a natural supplement called lactoferrin [citation].
