Dr. Fayme Cai was born and raised in Brooklyn. As a child, she enjoyed digging in the mud for earthworms at her local park and petting every animal possible, so she decided to become a veterinarian. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School, she received her Bachelor's from Columbia University. Dr. Cai then moved upstate to Ithaca for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. During her time there, she worked in the small animal ICU, helped organize Cornell's first veterinary behavior symposium, and volunteered to raise seeing-eye dogs. After graduation, she worked at a small animal veterinary practice in Manhattan before coming back to Brooklyn, her hometown.
Dr. Cai values building relationships with both pets and their families, excellent client education, and access to compassionate veterinary care for the diverse NYC community. Although she enjoys all aspects of her job, she has special interests in veterinary behavior, ophthalmology, and internal medicine.
When she's not working, Dr. Cai enjoys singing, dancing, reading, tending her plants, playing video games, and sleeping. She shares a home with her rambunctious cat Crystal (adopted from NYC Animal Care Centers) and retired guide dog Brady, a Labrador Retriever.
