Valerie Kappes grew up in the north woods of the Upper Peninsula, enjoying the outdoors and spending most of her free time in the barn with her horses. She attended Michigan State University, earning a bachelor's in Animal Science before attending vet school there. She joined the JAMC team in 2016. Dr. Kappes has a special interest in preventative medicine, behavior, and dentistry for both small animals and equine patients. She is looking forward to finishing her chiropractic training by the end of 2019. Dr. Kappes lives in Janesville with her husband, 2 horses, a pack of 3 Corgis, and their barn kitties. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her animals, reading, watching reruns of Hogan’s Heroes, and working on their hobby farm [citation].
