Dr. Katharine Llop grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Katharine grew up riding horses west of the metro and spent her first two years in practice as a large animal vet in New England and Minnesota before transitioning to small animal practice.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Katharine received a bachelor of science from the University of Minnesota and went on to work in grassland and marine conservation in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the Florida Keys. She continues to be interested in conservation and loves spending time in nature. Before returning to veterinary school, she worked in a microbiology lab at the University of Minnesota that studies antibiotic resistance and the microbiome.
Dr. Katharine has a Labrador Retriever (Otis), three cats (Chewie, Ewok, and Hermione), and two horses (Winnie and Big Cat). In her spare time, she enjoys reading, baking, walking in nature, riding horses, and spending time with her husband (Alan) and daughter (Sage Mae). She likes to get up to Madeline Island and Lake Superior whenever she can.
Dr. Katharine loves her work at Long Lake Veterinary Clinic and particularly enjoys dermatology, surgery, and getting to know animals and their people.
