Dr. Liz Hartnett grew up in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has been in practice working with dogs and cats since 2014. Her scope of practice includes general health and preventative care, managing geriatric disease, nutritional consulting, wound management, surgery, behavioral consulting, and management of chronic pain/arthritis. She prefers to practice with a multi-modal integrative approach blending holistic modalities with conventional western medicine when appropriate.
She graduated from veterinary school in June of 2014. She completed her veterinary course studies at the University of Saint Matthews, finishing her veterinary clinical year at the University of Minnesota. Prior to her DVM degree, she studied at Bastyr University in Washington State acquiring two Masters of Science degrees in Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Acupuncture. During her undergraduate studies, she earned a BFA degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a minor in Environmental Science. She is also certified in massage therapy (Brenneke Institute), Thai massage (Chiang Mai TTC) and ESL (Cambridge University). She is a licensed diplomat in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and is an active member in the AHVMA, AVMA, MVMA and multiple veterinary forums.
Dr. Liz's integrative approach blends conventional allopathic medicine with several holistic modalities. Her holistic scope includes Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, Nutritional Diet Therapy, and Microbiome management/testing. She believes in the individuality of each patient, and understands how to use a multi-modal approach in preventing disease/promoting healing.
Dr. Liz has enjoyed experiencing life in different places around the world. She chose to live abroad during most of her young adulthood, and has lived/worked/studied in England, Turkey, China, Thailand, and the Cayman Islands. She is always open to learning new modalities of treatment and is accepting of different cultural perspectives/approaches in veterinary care. She has owned a variety of pets throughout her life including dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, snakes, and iguanas. She currently has 1 dog, 3 cats, 6 chickens, and a multitude of fish.
Dr. Liz enjoys a healthy balance of work and family life.
