Catherine Jacobs grew up outside Philadelphia riding in pony club and fox hunting, as well as showing ponies. She received her undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in upstate New York. Moving west, she attended the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2002. Prior to joining Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center, Dr. Jacobs practiced equine veterinary medicine in Galt, CA. She is married and has two children under age 5. In her free time, she enjoys riding and showing her hunter/jumper. Dr. Jacobs' practice interests lie primarily in reproduction, preventative medicine, dentistry, lameness, and pre-purchase examinations. Additionally, she completed an exhaustive program in equine acupuncture and enjoys combining Western and Eastern medicine in a variety of medicine and lameness/soundness cases. Dr. Jacobs has extensive experience breeding mares with cooled and frozen semen, and she has recently introduced deep horn insemination and embryo transfer procedures [citation][3][5].
