Dr. Esmeralda Cano is a proud Latina, Spanish-speaking doctor that was born and raised in Los Angeles. Her family immigrated from Puebla, Mexico and since have established roots in Boyle Heights/East LA area. She attended Stevenson Middle School and Roosevelt High School, go Rough Riders. She went on to receiving her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science at the University of California, Davis. She then worked for a couple years as a research and veterinary assistant where she developed a passion for bridging language barriers and accessibility to veterinary medicine in underserved communities. She went on to pursue her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean and completed her clinical year at Oregon State University. Dr. Cano’s special interests are preventative medicine, internal medicine and geriatric medicine. She has taken a special passion for feline patients and is part of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
