Dr. Timothy L. Pinkham is a Maryland native who grew up in a loving military family. He has had a passion for science and nature ever since he can remember. Dr. Pinkham’s journey working in animal care began at a local pet store, where he had the privilege to showcase his ability to connect with owners and their pet families. During one of his client interactions, he had the opportunity to meet a local veterinarian who offered the wonderful opportunity to work at a veterinary hospital. It was that opportunity that allowed Dr. Pinkham to make up his mind and pursue veterinary medicine as a career.
Dr. Pinkham is no stranger to hard work, having enrolled in classes while working several jobs to support his dream path. He attended Anne Arundel Community College before enrolling at University of Maryland College Park animal science’s program. Dr. Pinkham worked at many veterinary clinics/hospitals in the area as a senior technician and during his studies, he also worked for University of Maryland Central Animal Resource Facility, where he provided assistance for the care/welfare of bats and various species of animals/creatures. He further expanded his knowledge base and credentials by becoming a certified technician in laboratory animal medicine.
Dr. Pinkham’s hard work and perseverance allowed him to be one of only a few who have been able to obtain early matriculation into veterinary school. He had the incredible opportunity to attend and graduate veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on St. Kitts. His studies had a strong emphasis in mixed animal medicine. During his time at Ross, he pursued additional education in veterinary dentistry through University of Illinois small animal clinical dentistry modules. Back stateside, Dr. Pinkham completed his clinical rotation at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Pinkham is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, regularly attending a wide variety of continuing education, including an active participation in the recover initiative for basic and advanced life support, a certified program by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care through Cornell University.
Dr. Pinkham joined Marriottsville Animal Hospital in 2015 and has been serving the owners and pet families ever since. He loves everything veterinary but has special interests in the areas of anesthesiology, dermatology, and immunology. He is patient and thorough in medicine/surgery and will never forget to treat the patient and not just treat the disease.
Despite a full schedule, Dr. Pinkham enjoys sports, the occasional outdoors/adventure, loves music (plays several instruments). He is an aquarium hobbyist, enjoying nature at home and abroad. He keeps many fresh water salt water fish. He has a bearded dragon named Mclizarton and a cat/dog named Smurffles, who he rescued on the island of St. Kitts during his studies in veterinary school.
Dr. Pinkham loves his career and is shown through the care he provides his patients and clients. He is familiar with all creatures great and small and is happy to advocate on behalf of any client and pet that needs help. Dr. Pinkham is truly blessed with all the experiences in his life and is thankful that his dream of practicing veterinary medicine is a reality. Dr. Pinkham truly looks forward to seeing you at your next visit
