Dr. Craig Kelleher is a native of the North Hampton community, having attended both grade school and high school in the area. He has always been around animals, spending many years involved with 4-H, and having been exposed to and cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, cattle, and goats while in grade and high school. His studies at Michigan State University earned him a Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Science and provided excellent preparation for veterinary studies at the Ohio State University.
After graduating from Ohio State, Dr. Kelleher practiced in Brattleboro, VT with emphasis exclusively with farm animals, primarily the dairy farms of the Connecticut River Valley. Prior to returning to North Hampton, he spent one year in a mixed practice in Bradford, VT. He returned to the seacoast and started the North Hampton Animal Hospital in January 1986. Demands of the practice contributed to the change to a 100% small animal practice during the second year. In 1997, the practice was moved into an architecturally designed state of the art facility.
He enjoys the diversity offered in general practice and has also developed an interest in veterinary dentistry. Attendance at veterinary dental meetings over the past eight years has highlighted the significance of dentistry as an emerging area of interest and significance. Dr. Kelleher has also been active in the professional community, having served as president to both the NH Veterinary Medical Association and the NH Board of Veterinary Medicine. He is most proud of his dedicated staff and enjoys the day-to-day challenges of private practice.
When away from the office, Dr. Kelleher enjoys travel with his wife Patti (the Azores to Zanzibar), fly fishing, woodworking, and the company of his cat Tanz, and Bernese Mountain dogs Stella and Norma [citation].
