Born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Dr. Karen Tyndall wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College (now St. Andrew’s University), and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. In 2009, Dr. Tyndall joined the team at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Tyndall enjoys just about every aspect of veterinary medicine—internal medicine, surgery, behavioral counseling, and the relationships she forms with clients and their pets. She primarily cares for dogs and cats, and will occasionally see pocket pets like guinea pigs, rats, and mice. She has professional interest in feline medicine and is happy to provide care for even the feistiest of kitties.
Dr. Tyndall also has two furry children at home; Riley, a sweet and handsome hunk of a kitty, and Stevie Ray, a silly, adorable, and mischievous little boy kitten. Though she doesn’t have any dogs at this time, she plans to add to her pet family soon.
In her free time, Dr. Tyndall likes to make jewelry, meditate, kayak, listen to music, and sing. In fact, Dr. Tyndall used to have a second job as the female singer of a pop, rock, and blues band but left the group once she became a mother. She shares a home in Madeira Beach with her husband, Peter, and elementary-aged daughter, Sara, and has an adult stepdaughter who lives in Hollywood, California.
