Dr. Katelyn Mertes received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2016 from the University of Minnesota - Crookston. She then graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Upon graduation from veterinary school, she started as a mixed animal practitioner balancing her time with large and small animals. As the demands for the large animal calls decreased and the small animal appointments increased due to the pandemic, Dr. Mertes started doing small animal medicine and surgery full time. Her special interests include surgery, reproduction, and preventative medicine. Dr. Mertes lives on a beef farm with her husband Mike. In her free time, she enjoys training and competing in events with their five dogs: Aubrey, a Siberian Husky, Aspen, who is a Beagle, and Kimber, Tikka and Caliber, who are all Labrador Retrievers.
