Dr. Gary Smith joined the PetCare team in February 2024, but has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 40 years. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and then completed an internship at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Massachusetts. He subsequently spent time at the largest animal hospital in the world, Animal Medical Center, in New York City. Dr. Smith has an extreme passion for veterinary medicine and building life-lasting professional relationships with his clients. He loves surgery, but also really enjoys alternative medicine including forms of acupuncture. He is proficient in acupuncture, acupressure, ultrasound, and diagnostic medicine. Continuing to practice gives Dr. Smith pleasure every day to be able to treat and help your pets to a healthy life. It is gratifying to work with clients in partnership for their pet’s care. In addition to the aforementioned aspects of veterinary medicine, he also enjoys dentistry as it makes a difference in the long-term health of pets. Dr. Smith also has a couple of significant studies he is working on involving cancer and vitamin D3 deficiencies.
Dr. Smith has a wonderful supportive wife of 50 years, 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. His philosophy on life is continual education, a number of volunteering activities, and ultimately making a difference in people’s and animals’ lives as a legacy.
