Mary Stankovics graduated from Ross University where she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1989. She started her career in general and emergency medicine. In 1993, she became the second full-time veterinarian for The Seeing Eye, where she developed her skills in ophthalmology, gastroenterology, neonatology, and canine reproduction. In 2004, she started her own business, Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services, LLC. She has a special interest in the study of theriogenology and neonatology.

- New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association
- The Metropolitan Veterinary Medical Association
Mary is an active member of the community:
- Member of Vernon C. Oaks Society (Washington Rescue Squad)
- She shares her home with multiple cats and her two Golden Retrievers, Jelly and Jet.
- She actively participates in competitive dog sports with both of her Goldens, earning numerous titles in agility, obedience, field, and NoseWork.
- She also enjoys canoeing and photography.
