Anita Lara's journey to become a veterinarian started as a young girl who loved science and animals. A visit to her local veterinarian became the turning point when she was offered a summer position at that clinic. This opportunity showed her the many aspects of veterinary medicine that followed a pet’s life from kitten/puppy hood through the final good-bye. Dr. Lara earned her Bachelor's degree in Zoology at Fresno State before heading off to vet school at UC Davis. While at Davis, a spark of interest in feline medicine grew through her classes and activities with the Feline Medicine Club. She completed her DVM degree in 1996 and immediately started in a small animal practice in Carmel, CA. There she recognized that the cat cases were the ones that fueled her passion. In 2002, she moved to Sacramento and started her feline-only career as an associate veterinarian at the Veterinary Practice Limited to Cats (River City Cat Clinic). After a brief hiatus at another cat-only practice, she is very happy to be back at River City Cat Clinic. Dr. Lara brings over 15 years of feline-only experience helping clients keep their cats healthy and happy. When not at work, she enjoys gardening, paper-crafting, and spending time with family and friends [citation].
