Dr. Jennifer Curran was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She began working as a receptionist in the veterinary field in 2000, then worked as a veterinary assistant and technician. She also became involved in competitive dog obedience and agility as well as training her dogs for therapy work, taking them to hospitals and nursing homes to visit people. She began her college career at University of Nebraska-Omaha, but took a hiatus to pursue a career in dancing/acting in musical theater. After teaching dance, choreographing and performing in theater for 6 years, Dr. Curran resumed her undergraduate studies and attended LSU. She then moved to Glasgow, Scotland and received her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow. Before moving to the Dallas area, Dr. Curran worked at a veterinary hospital for 7 years in Louisiana. While working there, she found a passion for helping aging pets deal with the chronic pain of arthritis and joint issues. This prompted her to pursue certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. Dr. Curran has an ongoing interest in pain management, palliative care, integrated medicine and behavior. She is looking forward to pursuing further certifications in integrated medicine and resuming therapy work with her dogs. Dr. Curran currently resides with her boyfriend and two dogs, a 6-year-old Golden Retriever, Cordelia and a 2-year-old French Bulldog, Bijoux. Her favorite pastimes include reading, playing board games, scuba diving, hiking and kayaking as well as traveling whenever the opportunity arises.
