Dr. Melanie Denton grew up on a dairy near Bessie, Oklahoma. She is a 2002 graduate from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. At the age of 9, Dr. Denton started training and showing horses. If she gets free time, she enjoys teaching children about horsemanship and safety. She also likes spending time farming with her husband Brandon, 3 sons, and 1 daughter. They raise Red and Black Commercial Angus cattle and have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 7 horses. Dr. Denton joined Hollis Veterinary Hospital in 2002 and worked 5 years with Dr. Killian. She opened Sandy Creek Veterinary Care in Eldorado, OK, in 2010. Dr. Denton merged both clinics with Hollis being the primary office and Eldorado being the satellite office. The name was chosen because Sandy Creek runs through both Hollis and Eldorado. Dr. Denton is licensed in both Oklahoma and Texas. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA), Oklahoma Veterinary Medicine Association (OVMA), Academy of Veterinary Consults (AVC), and a lifetime member of the AQHA [citation].
