Dr. Mike Dugan is originally from New York and grew up in Ft Lauderdale, FL. His interest in veterinary medicine began when he was just 12 years old, when his cat Tippy was severely injured. Thankfully, Tippy survived and lived many more happy years, and Mike began volunteering at the animal hospital where Tippy was treated.
Mike attended the University of Florida for both his undergraduate studies and his veterinary degree, graduating in 1991. He then completed a year-long internship at the Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. Mike subsequently practiced in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and at the ASPCA Animal Hospital in New York City, gaining extensive experience in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, and dentistry.
Mike and his husband live in downtown D.C. with their two foster fail Yorkshire Terriers, Bunny (aka Miss Rabbit) and Daisy (aka Pixie). Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, running, yoga, improv, singing, live theater, dining out, and spending time with his family.
Special Interests: General practice, dental health, dermatology, and the human-animal bond.
