Dr. Jayson Johnston, raised in Seattle, graduated from The University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences in 2011. He obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 from Western University. Upon graduation, Dr. Johnston completed a rigorous small animal internal medicine and surgical internship at San Francisco Veterinary Specialists, where he received advanced training in multiple disciplines. Since graduating, he has expanded his scope beyond cats and dogs to include care for rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, and fish. He has been a practicing veterinarian in San Francisco since 2016 and is honored to be the founding medical director of SoMa Animal Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Johnston enjoys caring for his ornamental fish (Mr. Jones, Alice, and Cher), camping, cooking, running track, international travel with his fiancée, and spoiling their derpy Bernedoodle (Julio) [citation].
