Contessa ('Tess') Leonard grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School. Tess earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 from Ross University and completed her senior and post-senior year at Oklahoma State. Dr. Leonard started her career in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, first at a local clinic, and then opened a veterinary house call practice which she owned for 12 years. Tess moved to a ski town in Colorado and practiced at the local clinic until 2023. In 2024, deciding it was time to move back to Oklahoma to be near her large family, she began practicing at Sooner Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Leonard enjoys practicing small animal medicine and helping pets live their most healthy lives. Her philosophy is that all client concerns and questions be answered and that treatment options be discussed thoroughly. She likes to ensure that everyone understands the plan. Dr. Leonard also believes that follow-up with clients is very important in keeping pets healthy.
In her personal life, Tess enjoys getting to know Oklahoma and having lots of visits with her family. She loves bike riding around town, camping, skiing, and road trips. Tess loves spending time with her husband, John, and her sweet lab mix, Roxy.
