Dr. Miranda Merz joined our staff in May 2017. A graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Merz has worked at SFAH during summer and other school breaks since 2011, serving first as a veterinary assistant and later as a veterinary technician. Dr. Merz earned her undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Georgia in 2009 and worked in the field for two years before realizing, after working one summer at SFAH, that her passion was in veterinary medicine.
“From the moment I started working at SFAH, I knew I wanted to practice veterinary medicine alongside Dr. Hillier and Dr. O’Neal,” said Dr. Merz. “SFAH provides superior care to every animal that comes through the door, and I feel privileged to help provide that care. We form sincere relationships with each client and their pets and will be there for your animal every step of the way. I cannot imagine being in any other profession…helping animals is my life calling.”
Dr. Merz’s special interests include feline medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, and dermatology. She also enjoys working with clients on behavioral issues, including focusing on helping make veterinary visits less stressful.
“At home, Dr. Merz and her husband, Paul, are raising their beautiful daughter, Hazel, three Chihuahua mixes, Archie, Leo, and Kiki, and two mischievous cats, Clementine, and Carlos. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, reading, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.” [citation]
