Dr. Stephen Stewart grew up on a dairy farm in Blount County near Altoona, Alabama, and married his wife Karen Moody in 1971. He graduated with honors from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. After graduation, he worked at Blount Animal Clinic then in 1979, he founded and opened Stewart Animal Clinic in Warrior, Alabama. During the thirty-plus years he has lived in the Warrior community, he has made many friends resulting in lifelong relationships. This area has helped him support his family and see his three children grow to adulthood with families of their own. Steve and Karen are members of Crossroads Baptist Church on Highway 160 in Hayden, Alabama, where he serves as deacon and Sunday school teacher. Dr. Stewart is a member of several professional associations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association, Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. He also belongs to several equine clubs and associations, which include the American Quarter Horse Association, the Appaloosa Horse Club, and several regional, state, and local affiliates [citation].
