Deborah Cohen was born and raised in Southern California and grew up with many dogs and horses. As a child, it was her dream to become a veterinarian when she grew up, and with the support of her family, she pursued those dreams. Deborah studied at Colorado State University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science as well as minored in Anatomy and Neurobiology in 1994. She then went to the island of St. Kitts in the West Indies to attend Veterinary School at Ross University, with her final year being spent at Louisiana State University for her clinical rotations, and received her DVM in 1998.
Since graduation, she has stayed on the East coast and has been practicing Veterinary Medicine within Small Animal Veterinary Practices as well as in Emergency facilities. Her expertise is in internal medicine, surgery, soft tissue injuries, orthopedics, dermatology, and she has a strong passion for nutrition. Her passion is her patients, as she says, “they are my heart and soul,” and she works very hard to understand them and read them as individuals. She is committed to providing the best care for them. Deborah has a few main sidekicks in her life which include her Brittany Spaniel, Quay, her two cats Zane and Pearl, as well as her very special girl, her horse Frolly. She has been riding horses since she was a child and would not know to do without the love she has for them. Deborah believes she has been blessed with her career and feels that she has one of the greatest jobs being there to help animals [citation].
