Dr. Marc McCaughan is a native of Southern California, growing up in Los Angeles County with a deep appreciation for animals and nature fostered by his family's avocado and citrus orchard. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine. Driven by his passion for veterinary medicine, he pursued and obtained his D.V.M from the University of Prince Edward Island, Atlantic Veterinary College.
After graduation, Dr. McCaughan embarked on a one-year internship and an additional two years of service with Baker Equine Medical, a renowned thoroughbred racetrack practice in Los Alamitos, California. Collaborating with esteemed surgeons and clinicians in the racing industry, he honed his skills and deepened his dedication to providing exceptional medical care to equine athletes.
Transitioning from the racetrack, Dr. McCaughan practiced in south Orange County, specializing in lameness and sports medicine for both English and Western equine athletes. His clinical expertise has been instrumental in enhancing the well-being and performance of these remarkable animals. He has also completed his FEI veterinary accreditation as a Permitted Treating Veterinarian.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. McCaughan enjoys all things outdoors—boating, riding horses, and enjoying his motorcycles. He also loves traveling the world with his wife, Ashley, and spending time with family [citation].
