Jennifer Morrow joined The Marine Mammal Center in 2012 as a part-time government and foundation grant writer charged with creating and implementing a plan to increase grant revenue. Since then, she has expanded institutional giving at the Center into a team of three tasked with securing and managing approximately $3 million annually in gifts and grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
Jennifer’s career in development began in 1993 with her first job in individual and major giving for the San Francisco Opera. With assorted on and off ramps for graduate school, travel, assorted for-profit positions, and raising twins, her 20+ career in fundraising also includes roles at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, California, the Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services in Pasadena, California, and the San Francisco Opera.
Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service at Georgetown University and her master’s degree in English at the University of Southern California. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and a Grant Professional Certified (GPC). At different times, she has been active in the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Development Executives Roundtable, and the Grant Professional Association, where she has been a presenter.
Jennifer is also passionate about birding and conservation communication. In 2021, Jennifer completed a two-year Master Birder course hosted by the Golden Gate Audubon Society and California Academy of Sciences. As part of the course requirements, she completed an independent literature review and research paper on Changing Human Behavior to Protect Birds and Wildlife: A Review of Conservation Communication Research.
