Dr. Bourne lived in several states before moving to Phoenix at the age of 12. At a young age her sister said, "You should be a vet, you really understand Charbon (the family's poodle)". The seed was planted. Dr. Bourne obtained her undergraduate degree in Animal Health Sciences from the University of Arizona. During her college years she worked in multiple veterinary hospitals as a technician. There she gained insight and experience in the veterinary field. In 1994 she graduated from Colorado State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She returned to the valley and has practiced in small animal medicine ever since. Although she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a special interest in behavior. Her goal is to make each veterinary visit as stress-free as possible (even getting on the floor with patients!). She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AzVMA). She and her husband live in Phoenix with their 2-legged and 4-legged children [citation].
