Dr. Stacie Somes grew up in Orange County, CA with a wide array of pets, including rabbits, snakes, salamanders, birds, fish, dogs, and other small animals. She attended UCLA where she concentrated her studies on animal behavior and ecology. She did college field research in Colorado, Thailand, and Costa Rica. After college, she worked as an Intensive Care Unit technician at a busy 24-hour emergency pet hospital before moving to upstate New York for veterinary school. She graduated from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, where she focused on wildlife rehabilitation and developed a special interest in neurology and surgery. She completed a rigorous one-year internship at Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles before joining our team at VCA Arden. She is married to Mike, a veterinary technician, and they live with their two cats, Fisher & Mikey, and their dog Juliet [citation].
