Nicholas Woo Sam was born in London, England, and grew up in Montreal, Canada. He has lived in the USA for the last 15 years. He obtained his first degree at Concordia University in Montreal after which he worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Clinical Research. He then attended the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, graduating in 1998 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
Nicholas practiced general medicine in MA and NH for four years before joining VCA Capital Area Veterinary Emergency and Specialty in 2003 to fulfill his special interest in emergency medicine. He has two children, Allison and Anna, and an English Setter named George. Outside of veterinary medicine, Nicholas enjoys golf, skiing, tennis, soccer, running, and travel [citation].
