Marie Belt was born in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from St. Catherine's High School in 2011. She graduated with a degree in Honors Biology from the University of St Andrews, Scotland in 2015. She then obtained her veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College (University of London) in the United Kingdom in 2020. After spending two years with Banfield Pet Hospital, she transferred to VCA Pets First Animal Hospital in Richmond.
