Dr. MaryAnn (Molly) Caldwell graduated with High Honors from the University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She was born in Indiana, though her family is from Ohio. Her father was in banking and moved the family south, settling in Venice in the late 1970s. Dr. Molly graduated from Venice High School in 1983 before attending UF and graduating with a B.S. in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science in 1987. In between undergrad and vet school, she backpacked through Europe, worked on Ocala horse farms, and then took a position as the Equine Neonatal Intensive Care Supervisor in the Large Animal Hospital at UF. She deferred vet school for a year to help start the first “foal unit” in Australia in Scone, New South Wales. After vet school, she moved back to the west coast of Florida and worked in the area before purchasing Venice Pines Veterinary Clinic in December of 1996. She and her husband Jim have been married for 20+ years and have 2 children, Jamie and Will. At this time, they just have two crazy dogs Taia and Max, and a clinic cat, Sundance. In the past, Dr. Molly has flooded the house and the vet clinic with rescues especially from the in-house adoption program that had existed at the clinic as well as from Suncoast Humane Society. She served on the board of directors there for 7 years. She still serves on the Board of Directors for Caldwell Trust Company and is a member of many veterinary and local community organizations [citation].
