Our Mission
The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to advancing the health of animals, people, and the environment through innovative research, education, and clinical practice. Founded in 1868, our college has a rich history of pioneering veterinary medicine as a science-based profession. Our Services
We offer a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of animals and their owners. Our primary educational goal is to prepare students for a lifetime of productive activity in the veterinary medical profession. Our curriculum focuses on eight key outcomes, including an understanding of scientific principles, basic clinical skills, critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to professionalism and lifelong learning.
Our Internal Medicine Service provides advanced diagnostic techniques and treatment for dogs and cats with a wide spectrum of health conditions. Our team includes board-certified veterinarians who specialize in metabolic, infectious, endocrine, hematologic, gastrointestinal, liver, renal, and respiratory disorders. We offer a collaborative working environment that brings together expertise from various veterinary specialty services, including Anesthesiology, Oncology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Imaging, and Clinical Nutrition.
Our Facilities and Expertise
Located at the intersection of Route 366 and Tower Road in Ithaca, New York, our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a diverse group of veterinary specialty services. Our teaching hospital is nationally and internationally recognized for its premier veterinary education and clinical care. We train veterinary students, interns, and residents as part of our mission to advance the field of veterinary medicine.
Our Research and Impact
Our college is home to over 250 faculty members, including those in six departments and ten institutes and centers. We have made significant contributions to veterinary medicine through our research programs, including major programs in infectious disease research and disease control. Our centers and institutes, such as the Baker Institute for Animal Health and the Feline Health Center, are instrumental in meeting public outreach and service goals. We also collaborate with international institutions like City University of Hong Kong to advance veterinary education globally.
