About Us
At Gulf Coast Large Animal Clinic, we are dedicated to the health and well-being of the livestock that we treat. Our mission is to provide the best care possible for your animals, ensuring their success and the prosperity of your farm. Our clinic is not only a place of healing but also a teaching institution, where we educate future veterinarians and agricultural enthusiasts about the importance of animal care.
Our expertise spans across various areas, including equine and bovine medicine. We specialize in providing top-notch veterinary services, including livestock medications. Our team, led by Dr. Gregg Knape, DVM, has a deep understanding of farm animals, having been raised on a dairy farm in Alvin, Texas. Dr. Knape’s passion for animal care began early, and he pursued his degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University, specializing in farm animals.
Our clinic is situated on 200 acres of the original dairy farm where Dr. Knape was raised. This unique setting allows us to provide a hands-on learning experience for FFA students and school children on field trips. We take pride in our commitment to the community and the livestock industry, ensuring that our services are not only professional but also educational.
We are proud of our achievements, including the implementation of mandatory drug testing for all livestock shown at the local rodeo, which Dr. Knape chaired starting in 1989. This initiative has made the show fair for everyone and is still in use today.
At Gulf Coast Large Animal Clinic, we believe in the love and devotion required to keep animals healthy. Our team, including practice manager Cheryl Knape and veterinary technician Gary Batson, is dedicated to providing exceptional care and service. We are here to answer your questions and concerns, ensuring that your animals receive the best possible care.
Thank you for choosing Gulf Coast Large Animal Clinic. We look forward to serving you and your animals with the same love and devotion that we have for them.
