About Us
At Leatherstocking Veterinary Group, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for horses, cattle, sheep, and camelids. Our mission is to set higher standards of care by understanding the unique needs and priorities of each animal and its owner. We believe that great medicine starts with authentic relationships, where we take the time to understand your goals, worries, and questions.
Our team of experienced professionals is committed to delivering cutting-edge medicine and state-of-the-art technology. We offer a wide range of services designed to ensure the health and well-being of your animals. Our services include:
Mare Services
We provide comprehensive care for mares, including 24-hour on-site video and internet monitoring of the foaling process. Every foaling is attended by a veterinarian who performs a neonatal physical exam, dips the umbilicus, and gives the foal an enema. We also utilize the Foalert system to ensure the mare's placenta is passed and checked for any abnormalities. An IgG test is performed on the foal at 12-18 hours post-foaling to ensure adequate antibody transfer. If necessary, plasma is administered to the foal. Mares and foals typically stay in our monitored foaling area for 3-6 days [citation]. Stallion Services
Our stallion services include advanced reproductive techniques and management. We help guide your stallion to understand phantom collection in a safe manner with patience and experience. We are a USDA Certified Semen Export Center, allowing us to ship semen to countries around the world. We are fully equipped to collect, process, and ship fresh chilled semen, evaluating each collection for density, motility, and morphology before shipping. Incoming shipments are also evaluated prior to insemination. Additionally, we offer frozen semen services, utilizing an automatic freezer for efficient and effective freezing processes [citation]. Wellness & Preventative Care
We believe in the importance of preventative care for your animals. Our services include physical exams to identify lameness, dental exams to ensure even tooth wear, and deworming protocols tailored to your animal's specific needs. We also offer nutritional consultations to evaluate dietary needs and make suggestions for improvements. Our in-house lab provides accurate results for blood panels, thyroid levels, and other tests, ensuring timely and effective care [citation]. Additional Services
We offer a variety of additional services, including herd health management, laser therapy, surgery, emergency care, and lameness evaluations. Our commitment to exceptional medicine and meaningful relationships sets us apart, ensuring that you and your animals receive the best possible care.
