About Us
At Orange County Animal Services, we are dedicated to providing a safe and compassionate environment for animals in need. As the only open admission shelter in Orange County, we accept all animals, regardless of their temperament or health, ensuring that every pet has a chance to find a loving home.
Our mission is to protect both citizens and animals by enforcing the Orange County Code. We strive to promote animal welfare through various programs and services designed to support the well-being of pets and their owners. Our services include an adoption program, volunteer program, foster care program, community outreach and education, and a spay/neuter voucher program. We also offer trap/neuter services to help manage pet overpopulation.
We understand that many animals come to our shelter suffering from long-term health problems due to being homeless, stray, or abused. Despite these challenges, we make every effort to find new homes for these pets. On average, we receive approximately 50 animals each day, with numbers sometimes doubling during peak summer months. Our goal is to match homeless shelter pets with loving, forever homes, and we are committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all animals in our care.
We believe in the importance of community involvement and offer various resources to help pet owners who are struggling to find new homes for their pets. Before surrendering a pet to our shelter, we recommend exploring alternative options such as rehoming through social media, contacting friends and family, and utilizing local pet-friendly apartment registries. Our staff is dedicated to providing humane euthanasia services for pets suffering from advanced age, debilitating medical conditions, or severe temperament issues.
