Our History
Slate Creek Animal Hospital has a rich history of serving the Placerville area. Founded by Dr. Betsy Gray in 1987, the practice has grown under the leadership of Dr. Christina Vos, who took over as owner in 2020. Dr. Vos, a graduate of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, has over 20 years of experience in both small and large animal practice. Our team is committed to continuing the legacy of exceptional client and patient care that Dr. Gray established.
Our Team
Our team is comprised of experienced veterinarians and dedicated support staff. Dr. Stephanie Rouse, who graduated from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022, brings a passion for treating both small and large animal patients. Dr. Judy Mouritsen, a UC Davis graduate from 1983, has extensive clinical experience and stays current with the latest technologies. Dr. Jae Yu, who joined us in December 2023, brings years of experience in small animal medicine. Our large animal team is led by Dr. Michelle Lee, who has practiced in the Sierra Nevada foothills for many years and specializes in equine care.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of services designed to meet the unique needs of both small and large animals. Our diagnostic and therapeutic services include heartworm prevention and flea control programs, ensuring your pets stay healthy and comfortable. Our surgical services are performed with the utmost care, and we utilize advanced radiology techniques to provide accurate diagnoses. For our large animal patients, we offer wellness care, time of need care, geriatric care, surgery services, lameness examinations, ultrasonography, and digital radiography. We also provide deworming protocols and euthanasia services when necessary.
