Our Story
South Shore Animal Hospital has been a cornerstone of the Wantagh, NY community for over half a century. Our journey began in the mid-1960s when the hospital was founded by Dr. Joseph St. Clair, who envisioned a practice dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care for the pets and families of our area. In July 1978, Dr. Sheldon Schwarzbrott and Dr. Evan Dribbon took the reins of the hospital, bringing with them a shared passion for veterinary medicine and a deep commitment to the community. Under their leadership, South Shore Animal Hospital grew into the trusted and well-established practice it is today, known for its comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental services.

Our General Wellness program includes annual wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and dental care to keep your pets healthy and thriving. Our Diagnostic Services utilize cutting-edge technology, including in-house lab testing, ultrasounds, EKGs, and radiography, to provide swift and accurate insights into your pet's health. We also offer Surgery Services, utilizing state-of-the-art technology like the VetScalpel surgical laser to minimize pain and promote quick recovery. Additionally, we provide Holistic & Therapy Services, including laser therapy to reduce pain and inflammation, and End-of-Life Care with compassion and support during difficult times.
